RELAUNCH Q&A
I put a lot of thought into the logic and logistics of this relaunch. If you’re interested in the behind the scenes workings of publishing, here is a Q&A that addresses some of that reasoning. If you have questions that aren’t addressed here, feel free to reply right to this email
Q: Why are you relaunching Black Annis Year?
A: I decided to do a relaunch for several reasons, but first and foremost, I am putting the eBook in wide distribution. This means that you will be able to download it from your favorite retailer, including Kobo, Apple, Google, Smashwords, etc. It will, of course, remain for sale on Amazon, but because of Kindle Unlimited’s exclusivity clause, it will no longer be available for free download with KU .
The second reason for the relaunch is because the Audiobook is now available! This seemed like a good opportunity to make some changes to distribution.
Q: Why are you switching to wide distribution?
A: With my last 2 series, I gave away the audio rights to audiobook producers (Tantor and Podium). This is an efficient way for me to get an audiobook to you, the listeners, but it means I lose control over things like distribution and promotion. The books were also in Kindle Unlimited, which restricts me to selling the eBook only on Amazon.
The Fair Folk of Mullarkey is the first series where I plan to produce all the audiobooks. Distributing the ebook to a wide audience means that I will have complete freedom to do promotions when ever, where ever and in whatever format I want.
Q: Why did you change the cover?
A: Since I was planning a relaunch anyway, I thought this would be a good time to fix an error I made with the original cover. While I love the old cover, I felt that it didn’t speak to genre, and so it was overlooked by readers specifically looking for Cozy Fantasy. The new cover sets it firmly in the proper genre at a glance.
