What’s so special about these trees, you might ask? They look like any other trees, but these are soon to be my new refuge. Yep, we did it. Hubby and I bought a farm. Or at least a property that will become a farm. Right now it’s a big forest with some cleared land that will be perfect for a barn. And tiny house that will need to be expanded on at some point. And a really nice chicken coop. Seriously, I’m more excited about the coop than the house. Hubby is excited about the tractor that comes with this package. He’s already channeling his inner Bob the Builder.
If you’ve read any of my books, you probably guessed that I love critters and nature. So getting back to a more pastoral life has been my dream for some time. Just walking in the woods soothes my soul. And most of my best stories come to me while walking. So I consider this an investment for future books!
Also, once we’re established, I hope to do some animal rescue. Several times in my life, I have been fortunate enough to volunteer at terrific animal rescues. Now, I’ll be able to do the rescuing myself. Anyone know any good dragon rescue sites?
I plan to document our first years on the new farm in pictures and in a journal. It should be fun to watch a couple of city slickers try to manage in the country. And of course, I will be planting fairy doors and other mischievous things in the forest. There’s even a little bridge over a creek that will need a troll. Stay tuned for the antics.
But the first order of business is to find our new farm a name. And I’m coming up blank. What do you think would be a good name for a farm? Stick your ideas in the comments. Who knows, maybe I’ll pick yours!
