There's an interesting story behind the writing of these tales. Many years ago, when a certain vampire series was on every teen girl's bookshelf, editors of magazines were inundated with vampire stories. So much so, that they started to put disclaimers in their submission guidelines that said "No vampire stories." That bothered me because I still enjoyed good vampire tales--both reading and writing them. So I vowed to write vampire stories that would get published by these same editors. And I did. Three of the four stories in this collection were published by editors who'd sworn off the genre.
But before you dive in, a warning. These are not about cute, fluffy, and delightfully evil creatures that you may have come to love in my other books. These are harrowing tales of vampires that don't sparkle. Good news for book sniffers (aka paperback readers): the Valkyrie Bestiary Holiday novella, Oh, Come All Ye Dragons, will launch on November 10th as an eBook and a paperback! I usually wait until I have 3-4 shorter tales to put them together in a hard copy, but I made an exception for this one because a) it's a Christmas thing, and b) the cover is just too beautiful not to be in print.
