Of course, I stopped the car to investigate. It was sitting beside the road in what was probably a farmer’s field or pasture at some point, but was now just a sea of weeds and grass. There was not another human structure in sight. I’ll admit that a shiver went down my spine. I couldn’t help feeling like I was out in the Meadows with Squad 54. I even checked the tree line for gaunts!
Luckily, the Resurgence is still just a figment of my imagination. For now.
So what do you think this ancient mech was used for? I think that rusting metal tank was to hold water. My first thought was a reservoir for irrigation, but when I got closer, I spotted more mech hiding in the tall grass.
This contraption seems to be attached to the tank. So maybe it’s a steam powered tractor? Let me know it the comments what you think it is.
Either way, it was a beautiful find and great inspiration for The Knack Book 3, which I am currently editing. More on that below.
THE HUNT FOR A TITLE
In my last newsletter, I asked for help choosing a title for The Knack Book 3. The results are in and the top 3 contenders are Monsters and Mutinies, A Plague of Defiance and Rebels and Resonance.
Thank you to everyone who voted. I love all three titles, though I am leaning toward Rebels and Resonance. However, I hit a snag when I started thinking about the cover art. The amazing Christian Bentulan will be creating this cover. He created the first 2 Knack covers and they’re fabulous. So when I began thinking about what I wanted featured on the cover of book 3, I realized that the Ikon River plays a huge part in this book. Phaedra is a new character and a reaper of the giant nacara mussels that are used to make thera (magic mineral that fuels mechs). So I’m thinking now that “River” should feature in the title, especially if it will be part of the cover art.
So my new idea is River of Resonance.
Thoughts?
Christian will be starting the cover soon. I’m hard at work on the edits and have plugged the new title in as a working title. I thought I'd try it on for a while and see if it fits. I truly appreciate your input, especially if you’ve read the first two books.
