As the snow finally melts (longest winter ever!), I have been venturing out into the woods around our new little farm. There is still some snow on the ground and it's amazing to see all the different animal tracks. And I have been shocked by the sheer amount of deer poop! Good thing it wasn't a deer that swallowed Mason's bloodstone, or they'd never find it!

But the tracks certainly get me in the right mindset to write about critters. Here are some pictures of the tracks I've found. Can you identify them?

Sorry, no pictures of the poop. But I also came across this weird plant. Anyone know what it is? I'd like to get some seeds to grow it in my garden.

The winter may have been long, but the extra cold has meant more writing time. And the response to Book 5, Kelpies Don't Fly has been so overwhelmingly positive. I have dozens of notes that say, "Can't wait for more!" So I'm glad to say that I'm already 20k words into Valkyrie Book 6. No title yet, but you'll be the first to hear when I find it!

SPOTLIGHT BOOK

The 3 Valkyrie Bestiary prequels are included in the Short Story Book Fair, in case you're missing just one story. But the anthology with the 3 collected stories is now on sale for only $0.99! And yes, these are finally available in paperback for the first time.

Before Times tells the tales of Kyra Green, pest-controller of extraordinary beasts and Leighna Icewolf, Queen of the Fae—two warriors learning to navigate new roads in a world where magic is the only rule of law. Each story takes place 1 to 50 years before the events of Dragons Don’t Eat Meat, Book 1 of the Valkyrie Bestiary Series. The collection includes:

The Last Door to Underhill. In the last hours of the Flood Wars, a fae princess makes the ultimate sacrifice to save the human world.

The Girl Who Cried Banshee. Kyra Greene is a pest controller, not an exterminator. She has to be clear about that when the pests can be anything from pixies to dragons. But when her fledgling business teeters on the brink of bankruptcy, Kyra takes on a job that blurs those lines.

Three Half Goats Gruff. Kyra Greene, pest controller of fantastic beasts, takes on a rock troll and meets the man who will haunt her dreams for the next three-hundred and twenty-one nights. Come sing around the campfire with satyrs and discover how Kyra found one little lost cephalopod.
